Type Locality and Naming
E. Heilongjiang – Sanjiang. The strata was studied by Yu Renji (1950) and called as the Jixi System. Chen Guangya (1959) named it as the Jixi Group.
Lithology and Thickness
The Jixi Group is a group of coal-bearing strata. The formation consists of the upward succession of the Didao Fm, Chengzihe Fm, and Muling Fm.

It overlies the base rocks unconformably.

Regional extent
The Jixi Group is distributed in the Jixi and Boli areas in eastern Heilongjiang.

Age
This group was referred to the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous by the “Stratigraphy (Lithostratigraphy) of Heilongjiang Province (1997)”. Based on recent study, the present lexicon suggests the age of the Longzhaogou Gr is Early Cretaceous.
